Looking Back...

Today during nap John and I looked back at the blog and read all the funny stories, watched movies and read tidbits about our lives.  I am so thankful that I did that!  Amazing to see how far we've come!  I need to get better about writing post, because *I* enjoy them.

Today Colin had his annual Cardio appointment.  I was fairly worked up and prepared for the worst, and didn't need to be!!  He looks great!!!  38 Pounds, 41 inches of perfection!!!
A neighbor took this picture of my man playing the other day, you can see his short 'do, and his personality was really shinning through!
Muah baby boy with a big boy heart!

Happy Birthday Coli Bolly!

On Thursday we took Colin to have a blood blister drained from under his finger nail. It sounds much worse than it actually was. While we were there we had his 2 year well child appointment. Here are Doo's official 2 year stats!

Height- 37.5 inches (abover 100%)

Weight- 30 pounds 12 ounces (75-80%)

Head- 29 inches (90-95%)

Practically perfect, which we knew!!

On Friday Colin turned 2!! We had a birthday breakfast at home and then celebrated on Sunday with our families.

It was a wonderful time especially if you were 2!! Hot dogs and pink cake!! And two presents (or more:)

Happy Birthday Doodle we love you so so much!!

Well Big Kid Check Ups!

We took both boys in today for their 3 year and 18 month check ups. Though C isn't actually 18 months until next month we have an appointment with his cardiologist in case anything changes is 27 days. Plus it's easier:)

John:
40 inches (between 90 and 95%)
33.8 pounds (between 50 and 75)
This is the last time they'll give us % unless there's a problem:) It really was a big boy visit and not like a baby visit at all. Stood on the scale and everything!

Colin:
34.5 inches (above the 95)
25.83 pounds (between 50 and 75)
49.5 cm (between 75 and 90)
So it looks like we have super tall, but averaged weighted babies:)

Everyone here is doing well. We're happy to welcome the first great grand daughter on my side! Lucky number 7 for Great Great!

Colin: 1 year old stats

Yesterday was Colin's 1 year old cardiologist appointment. It couldn't have gone better! Colin's heart looked very healthy and we don't have to go back until June! After that we could be on yearly appointments! SO exciting!!
This morning we had Colin's 1 year well baby check up. Again, he's super healthy, practically perfect, etc, etc:) He did have to get 3 shots (my personal max for the kids) but was a great sport about it.
Here are his stats:
Weight: 24# 4.5oz (between 50 and 75 percentile)
Length: 32inches (between percentile 90 and 95)
Head:19inches (between percentile 75 and 90)

It means he's slowed down in the weight category, but hasn't in the height.

Seth and I think that it's funny that at one year John weighed 22 pounds and now Colin is 24. Exactly 2 pounds apart, which is what they were at birth... Two pounds apart.

(We didn't get into the doctor's because we've been waiting for our new insurance to kick in.)

Praying

This morning my cousin M had her third beautiful baby boy Thomas. Unfortunately Thomas was born with an undiagnosed diaphragmatic hernia. From what I've read on the internet it looks like Thomas has a best case serinario, but it still isn't great.
I was never a overly religious child, in fact I wasn't ever that spiritual. Until I had children and knew there must be something greater than me, because seriously have you seen my children? They are perfectly little imperfections. During the time right after Colin was born, I looked hard for a reason. Why did this happen to my child, why didn't the doctors catch it in any of my millions of ultrasounds, what is my next step, what does the future hold for us? I know how my cousin is feeling and it is killing me that I can't hold her. It is throwing in my face many of the feelings I knew were coming towards me with Colin's birthday next month. I don't have any of the answers for my cousin, but I do know that she needs all the prayers she can get. Please, Please pray for this baby brother and his family, they could really use it. And kiss your little ones or big ones a little more tonight:) I know I sure did!

Colin Update

So both Monday and Today Colin had his 9 month check ups (one cardio and one regular). On Monday with cardio everything went great!! She used words like wonderful, perfect and fabulous to describe his heart and of course him! We'll be going back in December once he's one, but after that we'll only need to go every 6 months!!
Today at the pediatricians office Colin weighed in at 23 pounds 13.5 ounces!! He was 31 inched long and his head was 47.5 cm. He is above the 50 percentile in everything and on the charts for everything except height, which he is only a little off of:)
Colin is crawling on all fours, pulling up to a stand, doing a little crusing, and says mama, dada, hi, brbr (brother) and all done (we learned this during his echo when he told that to the tech!), he is also signing all done and more. He loves to run around in his walker, play with the mega blocks, and do anything in the kitchen.
Overall Colin is doing wonderfully and we are so thankful that he has been so healthy for the past 9 months!!

10 on Tuesday~ Colin Edition

1. This morning Colin had his 6/9 month metabolic geneticist appointment at the Children's Hospital in Aurora.
2. Unfortunately we found out that Colin DOES have the genetic variation that can cause his low carnitine. Just like his mama.
3. Fortunately the only course of action is to continue taking the supplements that we already take, and to continue to be monitored.
4. We found out that because we have the variation and not the mutation, we are somewhat of a rare case.
5. In fact our doctor has only seen it one other time and neither parent showed symptoms.
6. Colin weighed 22 pounds 14 ounces (between the 75-90 percentiles)
7. Colin was 29 inches long (between the 75-90 percentiles)
8. Colin's head was 18.5 inches (between the 90-95 percentiles)
9. That means Col is thinning out;)
10. I am just a little sad that he has to deal with this too. As if a bum heart wasn't enough. Poor guy. I am thankful that it is not life threating, but darn!

So....

If you're the praying/juju type, tomorrow Colin has a metabolic appointment at the big Children's Hospital downtown. We'd love to hear that he doesn't have the Carnitine Dissorder that would require him to have to take medicine for the rest of his life. And we're taking weight guesses....

I added labels, so you can find other posts about the same topic, if you want...

Haley Household Happenings

Colin is saying maamaa!! I am so happy that he is saying something, and just tickled that it's mama. Yes it's only when he's crying, but as uncomfortable as he's been with the top four(!) teeth all trying to come in, he's been crying a lot!
Colin is crawling! Again, it takes a bit of imagination to "see" it but, remember the worm, he does that, digs in his toes and pushes. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done.

John's bedding has been picked! Thanks to you fine readers John will have a digger themed room. Really is isn't what I orginally wanted, and yet I am SO excited to order and start his new room! I've got lots of ideas and I can't wait to get started!
I made (two) dinners for a new mama. Truly I'm a sucker for babies and if all I had to do was cook to see little Will, then okay! Plus I can cross off #90 on the old list!
Hope you're having a great weekend!! I know we are!!

Time Flies...

Boy it's a big week in our house!

Yesterday Colin turned 6 months old. It's big on a lot of fronts, half a year ago I had that precious little boy. Which means half a year ago today I was at Children's, which brings back even MORE emotions. In 6 short months I'll have a one year old AND a two year old(!) And in these next six months my baby is going to morph into a little boy, with eating, crawling, talking, and possibly even walking. When I look back at pictures of John after six months he really hasn't changed much, more hair, but that's about it!

Today is Seth and my 4 year anniversary. Seriously 4 years! Some days it seems like forever, like there hasn't been a time that he HASN'T been a huge part of my life, (it has been 9 years more than a third of my life, so it is understandable that I feel that way:), and yet other days it feels like our wedding was just the other day. I'm so happy to have Seth be my other half. He keeps me grounded and out of trouble. He understands my crazy mood swings and tells me it's okay. He encourages me, loves me and supports me better than anyone else in the world possibly could. It's easy to see how four years have gone by if you count up all the trips, projects and children. But what you don't see is how we did/got through all of that. Seth is the stead fast rock that my family hinges on and without him, I wouldn't want to do it without him. I truly love him with my entire heart.

John is 25 months tomorrow, which is officially too old to be giving his age out in months. We are going to his 2 year birth class reunion on Saturday. Seriously TWO years!

3 years ago Seth and I went to DC for our first anniversary. I remember telling him I didn't know if we'd ever be able to have children. Little did I know...
So see how I'm having a time flies week?
